This spool holder is based on the excellent spool holder design by Archimedes (thing:78741) with some minor modificatio, making it: -
Stiffer at the ends / stronger support from same amount of material.
Less likely to build without delaminating off the bed.
Only one T-nut & screw is required to attach at each side, which makes it: -
easier to retro-fit, and
quicker to adjust for different spool widths in use.

Improved aesthetics (just my peonal opinion).
To complete the finished spool holder you need to print 2 brackets (of the same size).
You will also need the following parts: -
4 off M8 x 25 boltscrews (slightly longer screws are also ok)
12 off M8 plain washe (4 minimum)
4 off M8 (Nyloc) nuts (or plain nuts & threadloc)
4 off skate bearings (I used Allied/ part # 619-0036)
2 off M5 x 10 SKT head screws
2 off M5 T-nuts
This spool holder was designed for use on the Mendelmax 2.0, although it might also work with other 3D printe that use 20 x 20 mm extruded aluminium frame section.
It is possible to mount these with the fixing screw on either the iide or the outside and I expect you could double or triple gang these brackets to house multiple spools above your MM2, by using a bearing on both sides of the middle bracket(s), although I have not tried this.
UPDATE: -
I have modified the design to provide 3 size optio, as follows: -

File: "MM2_roll_mount_small.STL" is suitable for spools between 100~150mm (4"~6") in diameter (the bearing pitch is 100mm).


File: "MM2_roll_mount_medium.STL" is suitable for spools between 150~200mm (6"~8") in diameter (the bearing pitch is 125mm).

File: "MM2_roll_mount_large.STL" is suitable for spools between 200~250mm (8"~10") in diameter (the bearing pitch is 150mm).
Although the design allows for a bit of overlap between these suggested sizes.
Please note: The original file posted here (MM2_spool_mount_v02.STL) has now been removed. But the new large veion is almost exactly the same as the original, so if you need to download this thing again, then please just select the large veion file from the download optio.
