"Molding" tool to create a fully traparent canopy for the 3DLabPrint 1/12 Coair - by heat shrinking a PET bottle. Based on the original 1/12 Coair canopy shape. Using this tool you can make a fully traparent canopy without using any vacuum forming equipment. Steps I did to make a traparent cockpit: 1.) Print the "molding tool" (= tool) in vaze mode with a few laye of solid bottom. It should be watertight. 2.) Mix plaster that much, which is enough to fill the tool completely. Mix it quickly and step immediately to the next point. 3.) Fill the tool with the still fluid plaster mix put it into water so that the top part is still out of the water (so the plaster mix should not be touched by any water). The external pressure of the water can help to avoid distortion of the tool due to the internal pressure of the still fluid plaster mix iide. 4.) Wait until it gets completely solid. 5.) Take a PET bottle, which is big enough and has no ribs on the side (or very small ribs). 6.) Cut the top and bottom part of the bottle and pull it onto the tool. 7.) Use a heat gun to carefully, equally and slowly shrink the bottle onto the tool. Some oil, or e.g. butter can help to reduce the friction of the bottle and to avoid sticking to the tool. 8.) Remove the shrunk and formed piece and cut it to the final shape. 9.) Enjoy the nice looking canopy! Some experimenting might be necessary with the heating and shrinking of the bottle but works quite well in the end.
